Happy Chinese New Year

Right now, I'm taking a short break while studying, and since all my other friends have/will put up a CNY post, why can't I? Well, the Russians don't celebrate CNY so... they have set up our First Sem exam within 2 days time. So exam fever is running it's full course and we're not in enough mood to actually celebrate. Quite sad really, since firecrackers and fireworks are legal here.

They actually sell them openly at the supermarket during the Christmas/New Year season.

Now that the CNY post is done, time for another Short, True Story from Russia.

Well, last Thursday, after buying my groceries from the supermarket called LENTA, to be pronounced in BM, I was waiting at the bus stop when an middle aged lady walked into view and surprised me. She walked towards the rubbish bin holding a small cardboard box, bent down and started sifting through the snow in the bin. As she was doing so, I was thinking, 'This is the first time I have actually seen a poor person here in Russia. How torturous it must be that you have to search in the bins in the open just to make a living. And I'm here, so far from my homeland to study, with money provided by my parents. I'm not studying hard enough. I must study hard in order not to end up amongst the poor in the future nor to waste my parent's hard earned money in the first place.' I pondered on the morality of taking the picture of a person in such a pitiful situation in order to make a screen saver to give me more studying spirit. As I decided to take out my cameraphone to take a picture of her, she got up, and tossed the contents of her box into the bin, and went back to her shop which was 15 metres away.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Well, God has many humorous ways to make a good moral story for all of us.

COMPLIED TIPS ON ACMS

Well, I have compiled a couple of comments from some of my college mates.

A: ACMS is located at an 'ulu' place, thus it doesn't have proper facilities. We have to pay the water and electric bill but beware, the clerk may sometimes be too lazy to give out the bill. My power was cut out for a week. Beware of cow dung. Screw Tajuddin.

B: Show respect to Tajuddin. (SHOW FAKE RESPECT TO TAJUDDIN) Mr. Kam is a cute teacher. Sht to Mr Banoo, I was caught skipping class.

C: There are no mice in the hostel area. It is nice to jog around the hostel area during midnight. Bribe Pn Siti. Beware of Hidayah, she hated us for no reason for the whole year.

On the the other hand, there are some things we all agreed upon.
1) Places to eat
Bertam Seafood restaurant = Expensive, but nice food and provides fast Wi-Fi, but they won't let you stay after you are done. Provides 10% discount card, I think. No download bans.

Impiana = Favourite Wi-Fi hotspot when internet was down. Provides average download speed. Comparatively cheap, will let you stay after done with food. Has pizza
(don't come too late for the pizza or else it won't be as good with lack of ingredients)
20% Discount card. No download bans.

Orkid = Don't go.

RZ = Don't go, unless you wanna watch football.

Chinese stall = To get there, from the ACMS campus (if it isn't Bertam Medical Park) go along the straight road from the ACMS block to the Roti Canai stall until you reach the T-junction. Keep going straight past the farm/garden until you find the Indian coffee shop to your right. The chinese stall is to your left, a little further up. Cheap food. One of the few places there which serves pork.

Hostel cafeteria = Provides delivery service, just get Abg. Faizal's number.

2) Taxi

DON'T USE MR HASRI'S TAXI. WE ALL AGREED THAT HIS SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. I ONCE OVERSLEPT FOR CLASS AND HAD TO WAIT OVER AN HOUR FOR HIM TO CLASS, WHEN CLASS IS 15 MINUTES AWAY BY DIRECT BUS.

FOLLOW MR RAJA, 012-4450033. IF HE YOU ARE WORRIED, JUST SAY THAT YOU ARE RAYMOND'S FRIEND. GOOD FOR TRAVELLING FROM ANYWHERE TO ANYWHERE, IF RESERVED IN ADVANCE. ALSO FOR EMERGENCIES. CHEAPEST AIRPORT-HOSTEL RATE.

3) Shopping Hotspots

AT MAINLAND PENANG

GM aka. Global Minimarket = Most convenient for food supplies.

Pacific Megamall = For getting household products. Has a cinema.Arrange a bus through ACMS, call Mr Raja to send you to and fro direct.

AT PENANG ISLAND

To get to Penang Island, ask Mr Raja to send you to the bus station at Datuk Kailan. Ask him about the bus schedules. Take a bus to the Butterworth Jetty and take the ferry to Penang Island. Mr Raja also provides direct transport to the jetty or the island.

Queensbay = Large mall, has a roller skating ring, sells expensive stuff.

KOMTAR = Since you are from Kuching, its comparable to Seberkas, except bigger. A hotspot for movie and anime fans. Has an arcade. To get there, hop on any bus from the jetty. They all pass through KOMTAR. In addition, there is a straight road from KOMTAR to the UMNO building (Large building with UMNO sign). If you would walk along that road, you would find the famous Jalan Selamat along the way on your left. The coffee shops there are famous for their char kuay teow and in my case, their porridge.

Oh, and three last tips for you guys. First of all, Mr. Kam, Zulkifi and Zainol are the good teachers. Secondly, there may be a large bug infestation due to the plowing season there, which will last for two weeks, and finally and most important of all, there will be a survey given out by the college. they say that it will be annonymous, but don't believe them. Be careful of what you write in them. The teacher can read your hand writting. Last year, the teacher scolded us and refused to teach us for 1 whole semester.

ON AN UNRELATED STORY,

SKIING IS HARD WORK.
