Extremely Emo At the Moment

When I'm supposed to studying for 9 exams in which will be happening in 4 days in a row, I fell asleep and had a dream about the past and something which I miss while being here, and at pre-med. I guess I'll be adding this part to each of my next few posts, which will end up either as a short story or an online novel. The handwritting obviously means that I don't want anyone to copy it and pass it off as their own. I'm using Raymond's laptop right now.
Ps. for those who might be worried, I'm emo not because of the exams but because of the dream itself. i guess i will only be telling the dream at the end of the story.

Random Funnies

Just half an hour ago, I was eating at a roadside restaurant with Rahman and Aiman, while reading a book. Totally absorbed in the book, I didn't notice anything until I heard (or not) the chatter stop. I looked up and saw the 2 stooges staring across the room at a man who happened to be staring at Rahman with the threatening look. He was signalling in our direction and I heard the receptionist behind me say something, I didn't bother to think too much about it. A woman sitting behind Aiman went to the toilet. Later, on our way back to the hostel...

Rahman : (faces Aiman) See lah, because of you I got scolded.
Me : Hah?? I thought he was talking to the girl at the counter?
Rahman : No lah, he was scolding me. You didn't say what he said is it?
Me : No. What did he say?
Aiman : He said, 'Mui est', 'we are eating.'
Me : So?
Rahman : He was scolding me because Amir (Aiman's name is Amir Aiman) farted so loudly while he was eating. You didn't hear meh? Hahaha, the girl behind Amir cant stand the smell and left.
Me : Erm... No??

Eye of the Storm

Tedious Tuesday will begin soon, and here I am, typing a blog post. Hmmm.... Well, right now I'm taking a break from studying anatomy so I'll just take the chance to upload more photoes taken from Saturday onwards.
Our Russian language teacher, who teaches a combination of two groups.

Dave trying to figure out how to eat the pizza, and my very first subway.
Do you remember the pancakes sold at the Kuching Sunday market?
This is the Russian version with multiple choices of sauces and fillings.
My Biology class, and my group mates. From left to right, Shirley, Jenny, Amir Aiman, Dave and Rahman. For after Shirley stopped wearing glasses, it's hard for me to tell between her and Jenny. And yeah, I know she looks like a ghost in this picture. Why don't you try take a picture during class with the teacher 1.5 metres to your right? Anyway, the teacher..
is Elena Michailovna. Yeah, she is 1.5 metres away, dare take a chance shot with her staring in your direction?

Then, the now predictable part of my post. Microscope slides!! Yay.
Red blood cells infected with Plasmodium Vivax. The blue represents the infected cells. And you can see some cell fragments from when the cell burst. The parasite is one of the many species which causes Malaria.
Erm, I really don't know what I am supposed to find here, I just know that the slide was labelled Toxoplasma Gondii.
And this one, I don't even know what the label on the slide means.

Friday slides

Remember what I said about the biology lecture being hellish? SCRAP THAT! Our histology lecturer, Prof. Radaef is even more as Liong would say, 'beyond (godlike)'.
This was part of his lecture.

Cytoplasm and It's Components
A cell is surrounded by plasma membrane and contains organelle, inclusion (including), a cytoplasmic matrix between them. They can be imagined as a little organ of cells doing metabolic synthesis and energy generation and the other functions of the cell. The inclusions are visible non-living material (only in the). They comprise of pigment, granules ...... . The metabolic substances of certain cell types. The cytoplasmic grand substance which surrounds all visible compounds. *Lets break now for not more than 7 minutes* (don't ask)

'philia which means 'loving'(allowing, anything else that doesn't sound like loving. we were kept wondering what the word was for over a minute)'

And many more. Now, for the picture section. In more or less chronological order.

A lot of snow

Beautiful frost murals
My second time in any form of skating ever.

Eating at Mc Donalds later. From left to right, Victor, Liong, and Yun Xi.
A Zamboni. Anyway, everyone admits that this ice skating ring sucks in size.

Protozoa during microbiology class.

Practicing on a model of the brain. There is an actual brain and spinal chord to the left, but we are not allowed to take or publish photoes of them.
A better view of the model.
Remember when I said I was wondering how teacher draws so neatly? This is his drawing.

This is mine, under pressure for speed.
The two stooges, on the left is Aiman, our sacrificial goat to please the teachers, and Rahman on the right.
Our chemistry Lecturer/teacher, observing Rahman doing a simple experiment. He is our goat this time.
Some of our cafeteria food, costing about 50 rubles, or RM 5.
Histology lecture.
My table, hey, you too would need sugar to stay alert in a lecture like this.
Our Histology class.
Neurons of the greymatter.

Muscle cells from the tongue.
Cartilage cells from the ear.

HE created a day that students have to study all day.... And HE named it Tuesday

Wow, I'm still tired from last Tuesday. Lets see... At 7.00 am, we had to catch the bus to reach our Chemistry department by 8.00 am. Then we had to listen to our Organic Chemistry teacher who also happens to be our Chemistry lecturer talk till 10.20 am. Then it is off to the cafeteria for a breather before the real torture begins. 11.20 am till 12.20 pm was the Anatomy lecture, where the teacher expects us to copy almost everything she says for the next hour. Then... Biology lecture. OMG, she lectures continuously from 12.30 till 2.10 and i was unfortunate enough to be seated around the middle of the hall. It's hard enough to hear what she is saying from the front row seats, it is even harder to translate what she is saying. For example, I translated her 'lose the gut' into 'induce a cut' and she is speaking in English. Oh really, who would expect her to say something that sounds so stupid? The correct, final translation was more or less 'In endoparasites, there is a trend to lose the gut and absorb nutrients through the body (she said tegaments later)'. If it wasn't for Adrian who was sitting next to me, I may not have been able to complete the notes. And he himself was beginning to lose his patience. I swear, even normal whispering can drown out her voice. Adrian was going to toss a slipper to whoever was talking when he caught them. And I was prepared to donate mine. So.... that was more or less
1.5 hours of focus on practicals and another 3 hours of hard core writing. And finally, was anatomy, which was from 2.20 from 4.00 (remember this part). Lets see.... I had to talk to the Biology lecturer about something concerning something, and my group mates had to leave for the second floor, where the teacher would find them and bring them to the appropriate classroom. Did I mention that was the first Tuesday of my second semester? Anyway, after I completed my business, I phoned my group mates, only to find that I have run out of credit. 15 minutes wasted knocking on random doors later and I was in the classroom with my group mates. The good news was, this was the first day and our teacher, Andrei was supposed to teach lightly. The problem was, Andrei has high standards. Another 2 hours of looking at the human brain (which is smaller than I thought it would be) and drawing diagrams from the blackboard of the medulla spinalis (It is hard since he only repeated the names twice and used VERY VERY short forms of the names, for example, FIV for Foramen Intervertebralis) and I thought we were free. WRONG. He kept us till 5.00, cancelling my plans with another friend. In the end, my group mates and I arrived back at our hostel at about 6.00 pm. In conclusion, I like this challenge. Bet you didn't expect me to say that. I'll upload the related pictures later, or never, depending whether or not i can relate them to my next post. So, bye for now, I'll be quite busy for the next week or two.

Ps. My next few posts will probably be about complaining about my studies for the next few weeks. TTFN.

Happy Chinese New Year

Right now, I'm taking a short break while studying, and since all my other friends have/will put up a CNY post, why can't I? Well, the Russians don't celebrate CNY so... they have set up our First Sem exam within 2 days time. So exam fever is running it's full course and we're not in enough mood to actually celebrate. Quite sad really, since firecrackers and fireworks are legal here.

They actually sell them openly at the supermarket during the Christmas/New Year season.

Now that the CNY post is done, time for another Short, True Story from Russia.

Well, last Thursday, after buying my groceries from the supermarket called LENTA, to be pronounced in BM, I was waiting at the bus stop when an middle aged lady walked into view and surprised me. She walked towards the rubbish bin holding a small cardboard box, bent down and started sifting through the snow in the bin. As she was doing so, I was thinking, 'This is the first time I have actually seen a poor person here in Russia. How torturous it must be that you have to search in the bins in the open just to make a living. And I'm here, so far from my homeland to study, with money provided by my parents. I'm not studying hard enough. I must study hard in order not to end up amongst the poor in the future nor to waste my parent's hard earned money in the first place.' I pondered on the morality of taking the picture of a person in such a pitiful situation in order to make a screen saver to give me more studying spirit. As I decided to take out my cameraphone to take a picture of her, she got up, and tossed the contents of her box into the bin, and went back to her shop which was 15 metres away.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Well, God has many humorous ways to make a good moral story for all of us.
